USPS Announces 2007 Stamp
Plan

those issued by the U.S. in 2007
David Failor, the head of the Postal Services stamp issuing branch,
unveiled in Chicago recently the plans for new stamps to be issued in
2007. Among the subjects will be actor James Stewart, singer Ella
Fitzgerald, poet Henry W. Longfellow, and the fourth in the series of
Disney sheetlets featuring such subjects as Mickey Mouse in his role as
the Sorcerer in the movie, "Fantasia." Other commemoratives will honor
the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, Virginia, and a
sheetlet of stamps with a Pollination theme and feature diverse plants.
Another stamp will honor the 1944 Mendez v. Westminster School District
decision, which struck down school segregation for Mexican-American
children and set the precedent for the civil rights landmark Brown v.
Board of Education ruling a decade later. Most stamps will come out in
the second half of the year because the Postal Service will usher in a
postal rate increase in the early months.
